Who would believe that when Pacino auditioned for the role of Michael Corleone, one that would make him a household name, the studio executives wanted someone better known? We can thank director Francis Ford Coppola for standing his ground and insisting Pacino got the role as he gave the world an actor whose passion, power, and intensity jump off the screen through all the iconic characters he has brought to life.
He is not known as a method actor and rarely changes his appearance for a role. Still, he has gained a reputation for performances that show the true power of his presence and constantly flawless delivery. Sadly, like his contemporary Robert De Niro, his output over the last few years (Jack And Jill, we’re looking at you!) hasn’t been up to standard. However, like De Niro, his role as Jimmy Hoffa in Scorsese’s The Irishman proves that whatever Pacino’s got, he’s still got it.
