If you’re not afraid of catching on fire, leaping off of buildings, or crashing cars, then you may be the idea stunt person, earning around $933 per day! Many people immediately think of stunt doubles when this sort of profession comes up, and while some stunt people could work on film or television, you could also get a job at theme parks or amusement parks!
However, if you truly want to make it on the big screen then you’ll have to jump through a few hoops first. To begin with, you’ll want to take the United Stuntmen’s Association 150-hour course in the Seattle area and, once you’ve completed your training and learned how to catch on fire safely, crash vehicles, and fly on cables, you’ll have to show off your skills.
Send out your reel and a resume and get ready to relocate in case you don’t live in Los Angeles or New York. Then again, this might also be a great opportunity to relocate overseas, as Germany, Canada, the U.K., Japan, and China also have large film industries.
Even if you’re not planning on becoming an actor, you still have to take a course and prepare a resume.
The dangers of the job are numerous. Just imagine all the things that could go wrong, but a well-prepared stunt person is also the safest. The only way you could face an on-the-job injury is if you don’t know the proper stunt techniques, so you always have to be on top of your game!
