7 Unanswered Questions That Still Haunt the JFK Assassination

“The assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy on November 22,1963, was a cruel and shocking act of violence directed against a man, a family, a nation, and against all mankind.”

These are the opening lines of the Warren Commission’s report and few would argue with that statement describing one of the 20th century’s most shocking acts.

When those shots rang out across Dealey Plaza that day, they would resonate throughout the second half of the 20th century and remain a piece of shrapnel lodged in the American psyche well into the 21st. There have always seemed to be more than just bullet holes in this story, ones that the Warren Commission would try to plug.

When their report was presented to President Johnson on September 24, 1964 and then released to the public three days later, many assumed that the findings and conclusions would start to help the country heal the wounds of this most heinous and public crime. Nothing could have been further from the truth.

The commission would try to answer many questions with the 26 investigatory evidence volumes it produced but it would ultimately fail to provide many who poured through its pages, satisfying answers to troubling questions either left unexplained or simply ignored.
