Erwin Schrödinger was an Austrian-Irish physicist who won a Nobel Prize for physics in 1933 for the formulation of the Schrödinger equation. He was famous for his quantum superposition thought experiment in which a cat, sealed in a box with poison and radioactive material, is somehow simultaneously alive and dead, until the box is opened.
He also made serious contributions to the fields of thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, general relativity, and cosmology. However, when Schrödinger was not busy with scientific research, he was living a depraved private life that would have labeled him today as a sexual offender.
Even if he was married, Schrödinger found his wife (Anny) really unattractive, so he had a lot of mistresses. He also kept a bunch of black books, in which he actually detailed his sexual escapades. Yes, when it comes to morality, Schrödinger was really repugnant, but he was not a criminal.
What was criminal was the “lolita complex” ascribed to Schrödinger by biographers. Among other things, he tutored a pair of 14-year-old twin girls named Withi and Ithi Junger. When the girls were only 17 years old, Schrödinger impregnated Ithi. She was forced into a catastrophic abortion that left her sterile.
