There are millions of people out there that don’t have a choice but to stick to a job they hate. But more often than not, people actually love their jobs! If you’re a part of this group, there’s no shame in screaming it from the rooftops.
If you stop going to work and find that you miss it every day, then perhaps it’s time to reconsider your retirement. Remember, you have to stick to things that make you happy. Even if you enjoy taking long vacations around the U.S. or the world, if you still miss your job, you could look for ways to continue working.
Right now you might think there are some activities you hate. But once you stop working, you could find that you miss them more and more every day.
Age discrimination is a problem that many seniors face. Sadly, there are plenty of employers that might look for younger employees to fill in the gaps. But don’t let this distract you from your goal, especially if you stopped working and are hoping to get back into the workforce. Remind them that you have the experience and knowledge necessary to provide profitable results. You won’t need any extra training, especially if you’re going back to work in a field you’re already well versed in.
If they question the unemployment gap in your resume, be honest. You retired and now you’re looking for work. Nothing wrong with that! If anything, it’ll prove to them that work is important to you!
