  1. After trying to get a better deal with my company, they told me I was already getting the best deal. So I cancelled my cable, kept the internet and got the lowest package. I then got Roku and I already had the lowest Netflix plan. With this I cut my bill in half and I now see more complete series and more of what I want to see when I want to see it. I did like my Hallmark Movies and Mysteries, but I wasn’t going to pay to see one new movie a week. Sacrifices had to be made and I’m happy with it!

  2. This past week I have found, after just paying my last TWC Bill, always on time, that several of my more often watched Cable channels, plus many more channels, have appeared on the screen as “____currently not available. Please try again later.” This has been going on for days–what is my status? Are there some transitions taking place? Please let me know.

MY HUSBAND JOHN EUNIS AND I ARE HANDICAPPED SENIOR CITIZENS, AGES 71 & 78.
WE BOTH ARE ALMOST HOMEBOUND NOW AND NOT ABLE TO GET OUT AND ABOUT THE WAY WE USED TO. I CAN STILL DRIVE US TO OUR DR. APPTS AND PICK UP GROCERIES AND MEDICINES. BUT NO MORE THEATRE MOVIES OR EATING OUT, OR A ROAD TRIP, OR EVEN GO TO CHURCH. MY RESPONSE IS THIS WHY SHOULD WE BE THE ONES WHO GET PENALIZED AND HAVE TO BEG FOR A DISCOUNT ON OUR CABLE AND THEN HAVE SEVERAL CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS TELL US THERE ARE NO DISCOUNTS FOR ANYONE AT THAT POINT IN TIME. THAT IS A LIE THERE IS AN ON-GOING MONTHLY ONSLAUGHT OF SPECTRUM CABLE FLYERS MAILED OUT TO MILLIONS OF HOUSEHOLDS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEIR SPECIALS FOR $89.95 A MONTH FOR 12 MONTHS. AS OF THE APRIL BILLING STATEMENT MY CABLE IS NOW $178.72. MY HUSBAND’S MILITARY DISCOUNT HAS BEEN REMOVED. THERE ARE NO SENIOR DISCOUNTS, YET FOR THE MILLIONS OF YOUNGER TO MIDDLE AGE PEOPLE WHO ARE STILL WORKING, THEY CAN AFFORD TO PAY A HIGH PRICE FOR THEIR SPORTS PACKAGE AND THEIR PREMIUM MOVIE CHANNELS.
IF I GIVE UP ANOTHER TIER LINE-UP, THEN WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUR CHRISTIAN CHANNELS WHICH GIVES US OUR SPIRITUAL CHURCH SERVICES.
SO, WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO KEEP CALLING DIFFERENT CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS AND WE GET THE SAME INFO. NO MORE DISCOUNTS. ANY MILITARY FAMILY AND ANY SENIOR (AGE 65 AND OVER) WHO IS ON LIMITED SOCIAL SECURITY INCOME SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BEG FOR A BREAK ON THEIR CABLE BILL.
    THANK YOU.

CUT YOUR CABLE! Pay for internet only and stream your TV. You’ll get MORE stations and choices. With YouTube Live TV we get 70 channels and then pay extra for Netflix and Amazon Prime. We are saving almost $150.00 per month! We are retired, as well and the cost of cable just went out of sight! We’ve also gone to VOI phone and save another $50.00 a month! Tomorrow, we will have RING installed and save $40.00/month on security monitoring. Of course, that involved an investment of $1000 for equipment, but that will quickly pay for itself.

QUESTION #8 – PLEASE EXPLAIN MORE ABOUT THAT WORKS
WHAT BRAND OF ANTENNA AND WHERE TO PURCHASE IT.
HOW HARD OR EASY IS IT FOR A SENIOR TO INSTALL IT. WHERE DOES IT HOOK-UP TO ON YOUR TELEVISION. IS THERE ANYWAY TO RECORD PROGRAMS ON THE LOCAL NETWORK CHANNELS. EXAMPLE: IF I HAVE A DR APPT, I WOULD LIKE TO RECORD MY SOAP OPERAS SO I CAN WATCH THEM LATER. DO I NEED TO HOOK UP A VCR LIKE WE USED TO DO BEFORE DVR’S. IF I USE AN ANTENNA….WILL I STILL HAVE TO PAY A MONTHLY FEE FOR A STREAMING SERVICE SUCH AS NETFLIX OR HULU? AND CAN THOSE BE RECORDED.
PLEASE ELABORATE MORE. I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO WOULD BE ABLE TO HOOK UP ANY THING TO MAKE TV PROGRAMMING A GOOD EXPERIENCE WITHOUT PAYING AN OUTRAGEOUSLY HIGH FEE.
    THANK YOU.

  5. I get a better picture and save$200.00 per month with my $29.00 antenna. I don’t understand why anyone continues to pay the cable companies. I pay for Netflix and nothing for Amazon. Of course I also pay $60.00 for internet service.

No one needs cable and it’s astronomical costs any longer (we were held hostage). My daughter introduced us to “Amazon Firestick)..$39.95. You just plug it into any “smart’ TV’s UBS and you get free streaming from everything!…including Netflix, Amazon, HBO, Showtime, Starz, your favorite regular channels. Amazing! You can buy a “smart” TV for $99 at Best Buys or wherever and get all of this. Must have Amazon Prime, which is a no brainer in every way…all your shipping free, Alexa for any type of music, etc! Who knew!!…now you do!!

  8. Easier said than done. l am on a tight fixed income, ((Social Security) and limited physically and have a disabled sign for my car, Given all this having online access is one of my few pleasures but keeping up with m monthly cable bill and limiting other necessities is getting more difficult. While l had no choice but to get a contract with XFINITY l may have to cancel it. If they don’t acccept or understand my financial situation that will be their problem not mine. l hope to continue with them but time will tell.

  9. I was paying over $140 a month for internet and TV. The TV package was a skimpy one with no movie channels and lots of Spanish Language programming that I don’t understand. I deleted the TV portion and now just get internet service and I’m saving $100 a month.
What do I do for TV? I am receiving over-the-air free TV and getting about 40 channels.
