Some people may consider squirrels to be pests but very few would consider banning them from their property… mainly because they are wild animals and they can’t read “Squirrels not allowed” signs. OK, we’re just joking. No president has ever put up such a sign.
But, in 1955, Dwight D. Eisenhower did effectively ban squirrels. He had a putting green installed in the White House. When it was later destroyed by squirrels the former president was so enraged that he ordered his valet to shoot the squirrels the next time he sees them.
This, of course, but the president under fire from animal activists. His staff didn’t actually shoot any critters. Instead, they captured and released them elsewhere!
George W. Bush found the dress code in the White House appalling when he became president, so it’s unsurprising that one of his first orders was to fix it. First and foremost, he outright banned jeans from the White House, adding that men had to wear neckties while women had to don “appropriate business attire”.
Well, he did achieve in returning the White House to the dress code of his father’s days with everyone looking so elegant and fashionable!
