Cold cuts are something else that’s not going to save you any money if you buy at Costco. Same goes for meat. You’ll probably have a higher chance of finding good deals for deli meats like ham and turkey at your local grocery store. Another perk of buying them from the grocery store is that you don’t have to buy large quantities and them throw them away…just like you’d do with your money if you bought them at Costco.

The secret is getting the foods you want on sale. You might have to leaf through a few weekly ad circulars announcing the latest local grocery specials, but you’ll surely find “similar products for $2 per pound less when on sale,” says Mark Charnet. While you’re at it, watch out for coupons that also offer great value and savings.
