Dean & DeLuca was a fabulous place to visit when you ran out of Christmas present ideas. This high-end specialty grocery store had it all, from caviar samplers, shockingly expensive hot chocolate, to even eggnog ganache truffles- perfect for shopping for that loved one with expensive tastes.
Sadly, they went bankrupt earlier this year, so you’re going to have to find another store for yummy delicacies this Holiday season.
Here’s another department store that had to close its doors in 2006, undoubtedly because of the Macy behemoth that took over the market. The news came as a shock, for who could forget that Marshall Field’s once boasted the world’s largest indoor Christmas tree.
Back then, nobody could have thought that such a company would ever go under, but here we are. One of their stores even covered 73 acres of floor space! That’s enormous!
But, if it’s any consolation when Macy took over the space, it at least retained the former behemoth’s Holiday traditions such as elaborate holiday windows.
