Goldman Sachs has long since been an ally. Their support for the LGBTQ+ community has not gone unnoticed. In 2000, it extended employee perks to offer health and relocation benefits to same-sex couples.
But in 2007, it made one of it’s biggest moves yet, paving the way for other companies to do the same. The investment banking company started covering gender reassignment surgery in their employee’s medical plan. Many people who need this procedure know how difficult it is to fund it- and apparently, so does Goldman Sachs, since offering this perk.
Of course, the company has also seen a wave of backlash due to this decision, but members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies have all shown outspoken support for them after their announcement.
