Being stuck between four walls, away from friends and family is not easy, as millions of people have learned over the last couple of months. And streaming isn’t the only source of entertainment people have been looking out for.
In the second quarter of 2020 alone, reports found that the U.S. spent a jaw-dropping $11.6 billion on video games, according to the NPD Group. That’s a 30% increase from 2019.
But, of course, consumers also need platforms on which to play their games. Unsurprisingly, console sales also went up by 57%. All in all, America spent $848 million on consoles during the pandemic. Other video game accessories went up by 50% in sales, netting $584 million.
