You might think you’re in the right for suing a company that is selling potentially dangerous foods to customers… but how much are you willing to sue them for?
In May 2020, when a man for Palm Beach settled down to enjoy his McNugget, he made a gnarly and painful discovery. When he bit into his warm, delicious food, he had the misfortune of discovering a nearly one-inch bone which ended up causing two micro-cracks in his tooth.
Following this, he sued the company for a whopping 1.1 million dollars. As it stands the company is looking into the issues despite the man urging them to recall all of their McNuggets as they pose a danger to consumers.
If you saw an advertisement on TV for a product, drove out to get that product, and then found out that the advertised price was misleading… would you sue a company?
A couple in New Jersey did just that in September 2019, filing a lawsuit against Taco Bell. They saw the $5 Chalupa Craving Boxes on TV and drove out to two, one for each of them but were enraged when they were charged $12.18, before tax.
Because of the false advertisement, they requested that Taco Bell and their parent company Yum! Brands compensate them not only for the gasoline they used to drive to the location but also for the wasted time. When the case went to federal court in October, a spokesperson for the company pointed out how the commercial also contained the phrase “prices may vary” as a disclaimer.
