An opened jar of nuts is only good for two to nine months, in that it is safe to eat, but the smell and taste will get altered sooner than that. That’s because they include natural fats which degrade over time and go rancid, mostly due to exposure to air.

Putting them in the freezer might help preserve them for a longer period of time but the smartest move would be to buy supermarket versions that are smaller so that you could enjoy them fresh and tasty.
