A cellphone will do the exact same things as a landline and many more. Maybe that’s why many American households give up their landline annually. Let the things of the past stay in the past!

Another nonsense purchase nowadays is a digital camera. It’s useless for obvious reasons, of course. Smartphones now have large storage capacities, enough megapixels, and plenty of special features for taking stunning photos like a pro. So, again, digital cameras belong in the past.
