APPLE | SLOWING OLDER IPHONE MODELS
Many Apple users had long suspected that the multinational technology company slowed down older iPhones to stimulate sales of their newer models.  It was all confirmed by Apple representatives in 2017 when it was also revealed that the batteries’ life is shortened by the software updates to encourage people to upgrade. Apple claimed the software updates were not meant to make people buy the newer models but to protect the electronic components of the device, thus prolonging its life.
Apple was fined 25 million euros (£21m, $27m) by France and faced further investigations for the practice in several countries among which the United States and Israel.
