Is It Time for You to Unretire? Here Are 8 Signs to Look Out For!

1. You’re Having Trouble Making Ends Meet

One of the biggest issues that might spring up during retirement are financial issues. Plenty of seniors may think they’re ready to settle down, but one good look at their savings and retirement plans will prove that they shouldn’t leave the workforce just yet.

There are two ways in which retiring late or unretiring could help you. First, the extra income you generate will help solidify your savings for long. Secondly, you’ll avoid dipping into your Social Security, meaning that you’ll get more money per month the longer you wait until you reach 70. Many seniors find this ideal as they’re still active enough and in good health to keep on working.

The math is simple. The more years you spend working, the less you need to dip into your savings, meaning that they’ll last you a whole lot longer!

2. You’re Becoming Too Sedentary

If you find that the days keep dragging on and you’re becoming sedentary, then maybe retirement isn’t for you just yet. Seniors have to strive to keep active in order to remain healthy. If you find yourself wasting hours in front of the TV or on social media, then it’s time to get back into shape and find a worthwhile activity.

Maybe you’re not the sporty kind. Maybe you just haven’t found the right kind of activity that will help you stay in shape.

If that’s the case, working for a little longer than usual could come in handy. Instead of remaining idle, which could lead to illnesses down the line, you could go back to work, either part-time or full time, in order to keep your body and mind active.

Not convinced? Here’s a terrifying fact. The Harvard School of Public Health found that those over the age of 50 who stopped working are 40% more likely to have strokes or heart attacks compared to seniors who keep on working.
