GERMANY: Saluting like a Nazi
If you are ever in Germany, don’t even think about making the Hitler salute. It might be a joke to you but for the German people, anything reminding them of the Nazis, like the infamous sign and salute, brings back painful memories (even if their predecessors were the ones that inflicted too much pain on millions of people).
Making the Nazi sign is not only offensive, but it is also punishable by law. You could be sentenced to three years in jail for that. In fact, in 2017, two Chinese tourists were arrested for making the infamous gesture outside the German parliament in Berlin. To be released, they had to pay bail in order to be released.
