CHINA: Calling someone by their first name
Using someone’s first name is more than common in the United States but other countries, such as China, don’t this practice with good eyes. In fact, visitors are not allowed to be on a first-name basis with an acquaintance as the given name is only reserved for family members and close friends.
Therefore, if you ever find yourself roaming the streets of China, stick to family names when meeting and addressing someone, or else!
