Tips to get rid of these unwanted visitors:Â
1. Cover the cracks in your house
The thing about insects is that they crawl and hide just about everywhere. Cracks are problematic in this case because they can easily find their way from outside to your house inside through them.
Seal up the cracks so that you won’t have any unwanted guests inside your house. Bear in mind that these type of bugs won’t do any damage to your house (just to your senses).
2. Clean up the debris in your garden
Debris is attracting them into your yard and when the cold comes, eventually in your house as well. So what you can start with is cutting the grass, getting rid of the leaves piles, you can use it at the compost.
In addition, don’t leave the fire logs near your house or on the ground (if you have any).
3. Let’s talk about prey creatures
One way of getting rid of these unwanted bugs is to get some creatures that prey on stinky bugs. The most common ones that are known to feed with stinky bugs are birds , ladybugs and toads.
Lure them into your garden so they can be gone forever. One way to do so is to purchase a bird feeder which will welcome many birds in your garden and will get rid of the bugs for you.
4. Insecticidal soap for your flowers and plants
You can also keep any bug away by having an insecticidal soap. Avoid using it during the hot season because it can kill your plants.
5. Or you can also spray kaolin clay
It’s very safe for your plants, non toxic and it prevents insects from laying eggs and trying to destroy your flowers. Mix the kaolin clay with some water and spray it on your beloved plants and flowers.
If you use this on your crops make sure you wash them before eating. It can work on other pests as well.
6. Build an ingenious trap
We know it sounds a little bit childish and it sounds like a line taken from ”Scooby-Doo”, but it works. If you noticed a stinky bug infestation in your house a cheap trap can be VERY useful.
How can you do it? Pour some water in a foil cooking tray, add some dish soap and strategically place a shinning lamp over the surface, since this will instantly attract them.
Leave it over the night and by morning you’ll see the results. Flush them down the toilet.
