When the legendary Cher and Southern rock star Gregg Allman, co-founder of The Allman Brothers Band, tied the knot, it raised more than a few eyebrows due to the fact that only four days earlier Cher had just finalized her six-year marriage to Sonny Bono.
The pair would say ‘I do’ on June 30, 1975, only to say ‘I don’t’ just nine days later when Cher filed for divorce. The singer would later say that Allman’s heroin and liquor problems were too much for her to handle and memorably gave the statement when asked about the shortness of the marriage “I’ve always believed it best to admit one’s mistakes as quickly as possible,”
