“Camoutint Pink” spitfires
Spitfires were usually blue and used for photo-reconnaissance missions during the day. During the second world war, a new type of spitfires appeared, painted in a striking pink color. Known as “Camoutint Pink”, these “spies” may have stood out on the ground but once in the sky, they blended perfectly with the sky’s dusky colors.
Spy overshoes
These strange-looking shoes were designed for Britain’s Special Operations Executive (SOE) agents deployed in Asia and the Pacific. They were created to look like a native’s barefoot print and deceive Japanese soldiers. That way, agents landing on the sea could continue their mission without being discovered by the enemy.
