Consider Medicare advantage for all-in-one alternatives
You can opt for the traditional Medicare Parts A, B and D and a supplemental Medigap plan or you could just choose Medicare Advantage, an alternative to Original Medicare.
Medicare Advantage, also known as Part C, covers prescription drug costs through private insurance companies, for a monthly fee, besides the Part B premium, which depends on your selected plan. You will still have to cover co-payments, deductibles and other out-of-pocket costs but nor required to sign up for Part D or Medigap policy.
The advantages of Medicare Advantage are, in most cases, the lower premiums. On the other hand, cost-sharing is higher compared to Medigap policies. In addition, you might not have access to the same variety of providers as with traditional Medicare.
