9. Stay Positive
This is far from the call of many who say to you when you are feeling down to ‘just get a hold of yourself,’ but trying to have an optimistic outlook on life and being grateful for what you have can really have scientifically proven effects on your mental and physical health. Studies have shown that people with a happier disposition have a lower risk of heart attacks or suffering from depression.
We know life can be hard at times, especially as you get older, but another study showed (after taking into account gender, wealth, and overall health) that is you have a more positive outlook on life, it can extend your lifespan by 7.5 years. Not only that, but if you can lower your blood pressure and cholesterol, that has also shown that it can increase life span by about 4 years.
