Socialize in Florida
To demonstrate that your life is in now Florida, mingle, socialize, join clubs and take advantage of every opportunity to meet new people and expand your social circle. It won’t look good for your Florida-resident credentials if you don’t have any friends in the Sunshine State and you’re frequently going back north to socialize.
Obviously, you can keep your friends in your northern state but make sure you also make new ones in Florida. Take advantage of your membership in a national organization like the Lions Club or VFW If you’re already a member, if not join ASAP), include your Florida address in your file and start attending events in the Sunshine State.
Vote in Florida
Where you vote speaks volumes about the place you consider your primary home. Therefore, to be considered a resident of Florida, registering to vote and voting, of course, in the Sunshine State is one of the best things you can do to establish your residency.
All you have to do is fill in an application and submit it in person or by mail to the Division of Elections any supervisor of an elections’ office, a driver’s licenses center, or a voter registration agency such as public assistance office or even public library. You can also put your computer skills to work and register online at registertovoteflorida.gov. Make sure you have a Florida driver’s license (or ID card) and the last four digits of your Social Security number to finalize the online registration process.
