3. Batteries
We know, we know, brand name batteries can cost quite a lot if you need to stock up on them. Doubly so if you have children that like to play with a lot of battery operated toys. Even so, reaching for cheap packs of generic ones at the dollar store is not just bad money-wise, it’s also dangerous.
First off, batteries can leak. The more higher-quality ones are able to avoid this problem. Leaking batteries can ruin your electronics, which means you’ll be paying more for replacements either way.
Secondly, you’re not getting a good deal anyway. Generic batteries have been proven to last less than more expensive varieties. And another thing, avoid carbon-zinc batteries. Their inferior quality might make them cheaper and that’s about it. Lithium batteries are far more reliable, so reach for those instead.
