10. Black Forest Cake

You don’t even have to be a 70s baby to love this cake. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love the mix of chocolate, whipped cream and cherries? This cake was already really popular in Germany when it became a thing in America. Back then it was usually made at home, but nowadays it can still be found in bakeries.

The secret to this cake stays in the Maraschino cherries that are put on top of it and the whipped cream layering that covers the chocolate, which creates a delicious contrast. Moreover, after it’s done, it’s usually splattered with a cherry liqueur.

The balance between the sour cherries and the sweetness of chocolate is what makes it so incredibly delicious.
