Have you seriously considered relocating or has it always been a fleeting thought? Well, certain states may be ready to put money on the table for people who want to move.
This has been brought to our attention (and hopefully yours!) when lawmakers in Massachusetts started debating legislation that would put $10,000 in the pockets of those who would be willing to move. Why? Well, there are certain places that are in desperate need of new residents and some locations in Massachusetts also suffer from a lack of population. There are other states, of course, that are facing the same issues, so it’s no wonder authorities would try to sweeten the deal however they could.
Facts: money talks. You can’t very well expect settlers to come with the promise of just a good view and a friendly new community.
You might think that COVID-19 would hinder these laws, however, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. On one hand, more and more people are working from home nowadays, and with no end in sight for this pandemic, a lot of people could find moving beneficial. On the other hand, a lot of individuals would be more than happy to leave COVID-19 hotspots, particularly New York, in order to relocate to places with much lower infection rates, such as Connecticut.
Though fall is normally known for a fall in the housing market, in 2020 we’re actually experiencing an uptick. So much so that while Connecticut used to have a program for re-settlers, it has now terminated most financial incentives for such programs.
So, with that being said, are you willing to pick up your stuff and go? Is the money worth the hassle? Here are 14 places that will pay you good money to move!
Topeka, Kansas
Now here’s a great incentive to move to Topeka, Kansas. If you work remotely outside of Shawnee County, Choose Topeka is offering $10,000 if you buy a home and relocate to Topeka or anywhere in Shawnee County.
Of course, not many would be comfortable with such a huge undertaking, so the program also offers $5,000 for people who would prefer to rent, provided you do it for at least one year.
This isn’t the first and it probably won’t be the last time this region offers such deals, but it’s definitely one you can take up right now if you’re tight on cash and would like to get away from a COVID-19 hotspot. Even if you’re not a remote worker, either $10,000 or $5,000 could be enough of an incentive to look for a job in an industry that offers this possibility.
