According to the USDA, oats, rye, barley, dry beans, and even brown rice can last for several months in the pantry and up to a year, if kept in the freezer. White rice has a longer life span of about two years in the pantry, but that’s still no reason to buy the 25-pound bags sold by warehouse clubs.
You’re not going to have enough time to consume it all before it spoils, which is why it’s better to opt for the smaller, more manageable versions.
