13 Ridiculous Excuses People Used to Sue Fast-food Chains

Missing Ingredient? See You in Court!

If a fast-food employee gets your order wrong it’s best to ask the employee to re-make your order. Heather Starks from California, however, was so disappointed with her orders that she decided to take Jimmy John’s to court over sprouts.

According to an interview with WKTR News, Starks claimed false advertisement when several of her sandwiches she ordered did not include the sprouts that had been advertised in commercials, on-line and in-store menus.

But we have to admit that Jimmy John’s have handled this admirably, settling by issuing vouchers for free side items to customers who have received sandwiches without their beloved sprouts.

So, remember… if a restaurant gets your order wrong, talk to them, ask for a re-make, bring it up the chain and settle the matter as amicable as possible! It’s certainly easier than threatening them with a lawsuit.

Close but Not Close Enough

Who doesn’t love to stop for lunch at Subway? You’re probably thinking of their “Five Dollar Footlong” already! But that jingle and the measurements would soon be the famous fast food restaurant’s demise.

When an Australian boy posted pictures of his sub next to a tape measure, proving that his meal was one inch shy of the 12inch mark, all hell broke loose. The people who saw the picture and decided to test the theory on their own were so enraged that they decided to file lawsuits against the company. These suits were bundled up into one, starting a lawsuit that would last more than three years!

It wasn’t until 2016 that Subway finally awarded $500 and attorney fees to the ten plaintiffs… but that wasn’t nearly enough, it seems, as an attorney soon challenged the settlement. Why? Because they believed customers didn’t actually benefit from the decision.

Next time you order a sub, make sure your tape measure is nearby!
