I remember when I saw my first empty freezer case in the supermarket. It was surreal, even though actually, sales only spiked by 70%- far less than other goods.
Marie Callender’s, Amy’s, and even Lean Cuisine had to give up on some frozen foods in order to boost production of fan-favorites while up and coming home chefs struggled to put food on the table.
This also went hand in hand with other food shortages. When people noticed that pasta, beans, meat, and other goods were out of stock, they flocked to the frozen section only to find it mostly empty.
