Tylenol

Speculation from experts caused a huge Tylenol shortage in this country. Early on, while not much was known about COVID-19, some people in the medical industry speculated that non-steroidal such as ibuprofen could worsen coronavirus symptoms.

As such, people that needed to have over the counter painkillers on hand reached for Tylenol. And the rest, as they say, is history. Not only did Johnson & Johnson have to boost production, but stores, much like in the case of toilet paper, had to limit how much Tylenol people could buy.

Of course, since those reports, we now know that we shouldn’t have worried as those fears were unfounded.
