Data-Driven Upsells
Have you ever heard of this term? If not, data-driven upsells are based on a sophisticated algorithm that displays us the right products at the right time. In other words, Amazon analyzes the behavior of its customers, making use that each customer gets want they want to.
According to the former director of data science at Innovizo, Vadim Bichutskiy, Amazon uses a data-driven strategy for upselling and cross-selling. For example, if you’re constantly purchasing books from Amazon, you’ll most likely see the phrase “Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought…”
Approximately 35 percent of Amazon’s revenue is made due to cross-selling. So, even though some people bought a certain item, it doesn’t mean you need it (no matter how tempting it might be).
