5. Flint, Michigan
Located along the Flint River, Flint has faced many issues since the 1960s which has seen its population nearly halved from almost 200,00 to around 100,000. It has been in a state of financial emergency from 2002–2004 and again from 2011–2015, which has not helped the crime rates. Flint has become well known for its relatively high crime rates and has consistently been ranked among the most dangerous cities in the United States, according to crime statistics.
