Online criminals have also been hard at work, the same as hackers, hoping to lure unsuspecting victims in with deals that are too good to be true so that they could either steal their money or identities.
This isn’t anything new, of course, but with the surge of so many online purchases because of COVID-19, we’ve definitely seen a spike in incidents, so much so that a report from the Better Business Bureau Scam Tracker named online purchase scams the second-riskier type of fraud after employment scams.
