7. Drinking coffee right after waking up

Nothing can be more annoying than that 6 am daily alarm. Of course, the first thoughts everyone has in the morning are “I’ll go to bed earlier tonight” and “I need a cup of coffee”. However, drinking coffee first thing in the morning might actually make you feel more tired and anxious later.

It’s all about hormones. Cortisol, our stress hormone peaks in the morning and coffee acts as a stimulant. That’s why it’s better to wait until later, when cortisol levels are lower. For example if you wake up at 8, it’s better to wait until 9 or 10 to have your coffee.

Moreover, drinking it on an empty stomach can cause gut issues for some people, like bloating or increased stomach acid.
