Canned Soup
The first half of 2020 must have been a logistical hellscape for Campbell, as they struggled to keep up with the demand of almost everyone’s comfort food: a hot bowl of soup.
The sudden disappearance of canned soup was due to several reasons. Consumers found it cheaper to buy the stuff ready-made instead of purchasing perishables to make their own soup. Plus, shortages in order areas made it hard for them to make soup from scratch.
Even General Mills felt pressured into cutting certain varieties of soup in order to accommodate the demand for their more popular products.
