Flour
Going back to basics was the new norm. As such flour flew off the shelves faster than anyone could have imagined. But why were there such enormous shortages?
Well, it wasn’t like we simply ran out of flour. In fact, the issue was elsewhere. Producers were simply unable to mill and pack flour quickly enough, meaning that by the time they finished the batch it was immediately sold- and they barely had time to start on the next one.
This alone broke many peoples’ dreams of picking up baking as a hobby during the pandemic. And with yeast suffering a similar fate?
Ouch!
