Beans
In the U.S., the moment hardship of any kind has reached our shores, we’ve historically gravitated towards buying beans. They’re versatile, easy to use, and can be found pretty much anywhere… at least in theory.
Bean shortages were felt across the nation as we bought 100% more beans in 2020 than we did in 2019, both due to us spending more time in the kitchen and due to disaster preparers that lined their basement shelves with cans upon cans of beans.
You’re probably aware that beans are normally pretty cheap, but due to this surge in demand, 2020 even saw a 7% increase in prices.
