Helen Mirren has had a long and bountiful career. We’re still thinking about her latest film The Good Liar (2019)! But today we’d like to turn back time and look at a photograph taken from her performance in Shakespeare’s Troilus and Cressida.
This was her fourth production with the Royal Shakespeare Company, but her third as the lead actress. Her character, Cressida, goes through a whirlwind of emotions. First, she teases Troilus, then becomes devoted to him, then leaves him for another man.
Though critics loved her performance, they weren’t too happy with the production itself. But it’s good to know that stellar talent was still recognized despite all the other shortcomings of the production!
